Tai D. Kreidler

Tai D. Kreidler, Ph.D.
Texas Tech University


 


Tai is the Co-Director of the Southwest Collection/Special Collections Library (SWC/SCL) at Texas Tech University (TTU) and Executive Director of the West Texas Historical Association. He is also an Adjunct Professor in the TTU History Department and a Faculty Associate for the TTU Center for the Southwest.

In addition to serving on the Board of Trustees for the College Baseball Foundation Tai is active in several professional organizations, including the Society for Southwest Archivists, the Texas State Historical Association and the West Texas Historical Association for whom he has served as program chair, board member and associate editor. He is also the Book Review Editor and former president and vice president of the Texas Oral History Association. Recently, Tai served on the Local Program committee for the North American Society for Sports History (NASSH) Conference that was held in Lubbock.

Tai has spent nearly 25-years as an archivist and educator, and during that time has helped locate and deposit many document collections in the SWC/SCL at TTU. These include the Records of the Southwest Conference and the New Orleans Saints. In addition to his archival duties, Tai’s professional work experience is directly connected to public history activities that include architectural field work, formulation and completion of oral history projects, and consulting/advisory services for various historical and museum service groups.

Tai has authored numerous articles and contributed to various books on Texas history, the oil and gas industry, women’s history, and sports.

In addition to a B. A., M.A., Tai also holds a Ph.D. Degree. Born in Levelland, Texas, Tai lives in Lubbock, Texas.
