ESD STANDARDS FOR

GOVERNMENT & INDUSTRY

For more information on these test methods, please contact RMV direct with your inquiry or a Request for Test and Evaluation - Standards are listed alphabetically and by year.  Not all Standards are listed in this inventory.  Please call or email if you do not see what you are looking for.  Several Standards are not listed that are rarely used or that have low repeatability for measurements.

AATCC-134 (ESD Carpets) - Electrostatic Propensity of Carpets

Electrostatic propensity of carpets test methodology measures the floor's tendency to generate a charge.  This test is not recommended for Aerospace & Defense, Medical Device or Consumer Electronics where device sensitivity and harsh environments are the main factor.

ANSI/ESD S541-2008 Packaging Materials for ESD Sensitive Items

This standard describes the packaging material properties needed to protect electrostatic discharge (ESD) sensitive electronic items and references the testing methods for evaluating packaging and packaging materials for those properties. Where possible, performance limits are provided. Guidance for selecting the types of packaging with protective properties appropriate for specific applications is provided.

ANSI/ESD S8.1-2012 Symbols–ESD Awareness

Three types of ESD awareness symbols are established by this document. The first one is to be used on a device or assembly to indicate that it is susceptible to electrostatic charge. The second is to be used on items and materials intended to provide electrostatic protection. The third symbol indicates the common point ground.
