By special invitation from Los Alamos National Laboratory, Bob Vermillion has been invited to speak on Suspect Counterfeits and Non-Conformance of electronic products, materials and packaging in concert with rapid technological advances and the internet of things (IoT).
Today, appliances, automobiles, medical devices, electronic products and consumer goods (and almost everything else) are connected to the IoT and that in itself creates a huge demand on the manufacturing sector.
This domino effect has created an alternate market in the industrial landscape that is due in part to limited capacity in the mass-production of electronic parts and components.
As a result, we have a fast moving off-shore manufacturing alternative for the grey market to fill the gap for more accessible electronic devices.
May the "Buyer Beware" when flipping through slick catalogs or very cool websites. Buying cheaper does not mean less money spent; buying a product in what appears to be the same or similar as the original is no guarantee of performance based upon a Technical Data Sheet.
The probable use of substandard materials that do not meet US regulatory requirements can very well be the price you pay to buy cheaper.
